Our fourth annual Spring Honors Dinner , on April 17th, was a success, with 39 people in attendance.  Honorees were Bob Harris, Ralph Balderson, and Bob Flynn.  Members of each honoree's families were there, as well as co workers and friends.  Notable messages came from Doug Leisz and Bob Smart, both of whom knew all three men. Andy Harris, the son of Bob Harris, made a $100 donation to the Forest Forum from the Robert Harris Trust, and had these words to say in a letter that accompanied the check:

" Thank you for inviting us to your dinner meeting last night. We appreciated very much the honor my Dad, Bob, received last night, as well as learning about others being honored, and your programs. We enjoyed hearing about the experiences and relationships Dad shared with many of the members, and the continued love and support expressed and show last night brings us great comfort and an ever-growing appreciation of Dad's legacy. I am enclosing a check for my Dad's trust to further his support of the Forum. Thank you again for a wonderful evening."

An article about the evening's events will soon be published in the Mountain Democrat.  A link will be provided when the article is published.

The members in attendance also spent time deliberating on a proposed By-Laws revision.  The primary purpose of revising the bylaws is to develop a timetable for advertisement and dispersal of scholarship funds.  The group voted on a revision, posted here.

The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues.  The Forum meets once a month at various locations in the two-county area.  The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in Forestry and sponsors the California Forestry Challenge.  Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have great dinner meetings, an annual Blanket Party, and participate in El Dorado County Farm Day.  For complete details on upcoming Forest Forum meetings, go to the "Forest Forum Mtgs." page.
