The annual Blanket Party was Saturday, September 7th, at Forest Forum President Robert Little's home in Camino. Thirty five people turned out to enjoy an evening of friendship and fundraising for a good cause -- the Edwin F., Lila, and Lyle Smith Memorial Forestry Scholarship. Treasurer Rich Wade reported that over $1,600 was raised. For a photo collage of the evening's festivities click here.
The success of the party can be attributed to the great auction items members brought, as well as several items donated by local businesses. Please patronize these local businesses that donated the following prizes:
Les Schwab - 2, two-wheel alignments
Starbuck's - Gift Basket
C & H Motor Parts - 22 piece socket set
Tractor Supply - forestry helmet system
Sierra Furniture - 2 wall-mounted key chain holders
Safeway - $20 gift card
Drytown Cellars - wine basket and Wine Club Membership
Yearling Train Vineyards - Port style wine
Grandpa's Cellars - one apple pie
Speaking of Scholarship, the application period opened August 1 and will close on November 15. See the Scholarship page on this website for details.
The website is now up to date with the fall 2013 schedule. There will be a variety of interesting topics and speakers, starting off with the new Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree on September 18th. See the "Forest Forum Mtgs." page for all of the details.
The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues. The Forum meets once a month at various locations in the two-county area. The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in Forestry and sponsors the California Forestry Challenge. Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have great dinner meetings, an annual Blanket Party, and participate in El Dorado County Farm Day.
