It is with great sadness that I inform you of the recent passing of one of the Forest Forum's most dedicated members, Joe Flynn. He passed on April 20, 2015, and will be remembered at a memorial service and mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Friday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. Our thoughts go out to Joe's daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ernie Lory, who are active Forest Forum members.
The month of May has lots of good things in store, starting off with special recognition of the Forest Forum at the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors meeting on May 3. The Board is recognizing the Forest Forum with a special proclamation at 11 a.m.
Also in May is Placerville Farm Day, where we get to meet and educate over 600 third grade students from the area. Come on out and help teach the kids, hand out tree seedlings, or just observe and enjoy the sawmill and equipment demonstrations. (RSVP required.)
Woot woot! All aboard! We will be riding the narrow gauge railroad during the annual Field Tour and Potluck at Leoni Meadows Camp on May 22nd. The fun starts at 12:30 with the potluck lunch, followed by the train ride and a tour of the well-managed forest under a Non-industrial Timber Management Plan (NTMP).
The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues. The Forum meets once a month at various locations in the two-county area. The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in Forestry and sponsors the California Forestry Challenge. Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have great dinner meetings, an annual Blanket Party, and participate in El Dorado County Farm Day. For complete details on upcoming Forest Forum meetings, go to the "Forest Forum Mtgs." page.
