The Forest Forum has been very busy over the past few weeks. Here are some highlights:1. RSVP for the Annual Field Tour and Barbecue by Thursday, May 19. We are going to have a great Sunday afternoon tour (May 22) at Leoni Meadows Camp, where we will ride the train and tour their well-managed forest. For details, click here.
2. Farm Day was this week, and 605 third-graders and about 100 parents and teachers came to the Forest Forum's area, spending 20 minutes at a teaching station, then 20 more minutes watching a mill and equipment demonstration. We were able to educate about half of the event's participants. For photos, go to the "Farm Day" page of the website.3. On May 3, Ernie Lory and I represented the Forest Forum in receiving a proclamation from the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. The video of the presentation can be viewed by clicking here. It is item #27.4. As I mentioned in my last update, Forest Forum member Joe Flynn passed away on April 20. Many Forest Forum members attended his funeral mass on April 29. It was a wonderful opportunity to remember Joe and how special he was to everyone he knew.Today we entered the world of social media. The Forest Forum now has a Facebook page and YouTube account, as well as a separate email address. Please "like" us on Facebook to receive the latest updates, photos, and news! After the Field Tour, the Forest Forum will go on summer break. We will resume activity in the fall with the Blanket Party. Stay tuned for details. The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues.
