Summer is officially here, and the Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is on summer recess. It's a long-held tradition for the Forest Forum to take a break for the summer because it is such a busy time for our members.
However, we had a great set of meetings this spring, and there's more good stuff to come this fall. in April, we carried on the tradition of our Spring Honors Dinner, when we honored long-time Forest Forum member Bob Smart. Please click here to see the thank you note Bob wrote to all of us, and click here for the photo of Bob and all of the people at the dinner with whom he worked.
Then, in May, we had an informative day at Blodgett Forest for the annual Field Day and Barbeque. Forest Manager Rob York toured us through many ongoing studies having to do with fire, planting schematics, and silvicultural methods.
After summer break, our fall schedule starts up with the ever-popular Blanket Party, scheduled for Saturday, September 6th at Bob Broderick's historic ranch house in Jackson. More details will follow, but highlights include the Tahoe weekend getaway raffle and the half-cord of firewood raffle, as well as a saw blade hand-crafted by none other than Forest Forum President Robert Little.
The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues. The Forum meets once a month at various locations in the two-county area. The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in Forestry and sponsors the California Forestry Challenge. Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have great dinner meetings, an annual Blanket Party, and participate in El Dorado County Farm Day.
